I have had the pleasure of visiting the Dominican Republic at least 25 times in the last three years, and I have also had the pleasure of meeting the people from the bottom up. One thing that has always impressed me is that no matter how little some of these people have they seem to always be happy.

They are a thankful, caring, intelligent, and resourceful people. They do lack however the opportunity to improve themselves. There is no middle class and the wealthy exploit the masses.

One tremendous deficiency that needs to be dealt with is their educational system. To enable a society such as exists in the Dominican Republic is easier than one might think. One only needs to arm a society with sufficient knowledge and an excellent education.

In the Dominican Republic there is a need to improve the schools especially in the more rural areas. I believe that efforts made to improve the schools at the elementary level in the rural areas will make a great difference in the destiny of these wonderful people. I have formed a non-profit charity to do just that. I am a legal resident of the Dominican Republic and I am very much in love with the country and its people. I plan on dedicating my efforts to improve the educational system and to do away with some of the injustices that exist in their society. Again I believe that education is the key that enables them and releases them from their current lifestyles.
